GENERAL SUMMARY
Under direction, this position assists in the development and implementation of federal grant funded health and community services programs and initiatives to support Health and Community Services mission. This includes researching, evaluating and analysis of program compliance and effectiveness. Additional responsibilities include grant monitoring, compliance, and reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in managing, coordinating, and monitoring of Health and Community Services (H&CS) grant programs.
Assists in the development, planning, analysis and implementation of grant programs and initiatives to support H&CS’s mission.
Researches, evaluates, and monitors H&CS’s grant programs.
Monitors the budgets and spending of H&CS’s grant programs.
Assists in ensuring compliance of grant programs with established state and federal guidance.
Assists in the monitoring of program evaluation metrics, including reporting compliance and report writing.
Assists with processing, submitting, and tracking all required documentation necessary for the approval of grant funded purchases.
Maintains records and prepares forms, reports and correspondence related to grant funded H&CS programs.
Attends and participates in meetings, presentations and conferences representing H&CS to discuss and explain grant programs.
Facilitates and encourages the exchange of information with local, county, and regional metropolitan agencies.
May oversee the work of other staff as assigned.
Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration, Communications or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in grant administration in a public sector or non-profit setting, including grant writing and reporting
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration, Communications or a related field from an accredited college or university
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel

Knowledge of:
  • Grant administration, reporting and general accounting principles
  • Planning, budgeting, and contracting practices
  • Use and application of current computer programs, including Microsoft Suite and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with researching grant policy and federal regulations
Skill in:
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with co-workers, vendors, outside professionals, agencies and the public
  • Working cross-functionally with programmatic and accounting/finance staff
  • Problem-solving including thinking of new, allowable ways to execute effective programs while maintaining grant compliance
  • Working with departments with their different primary functions
