What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Maintenance Worker position at Macon-Bibb County Government?
The Custodial Maintenance worker is responsible for performing work in the care, cleaning and maintenance of Macon-Bibb County buildings. The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Vacuums and cleans carpets.
- Dusts and cleans furniture.
- Washes walls, windows, furnishings, and fixtures.
- Cleans restrooms, maintaining supplies.
- Collects and disposes of trash.
- Keeps inventory of cleaning supplies and reports low supplies to supervisor.
- Shelves supplies and transports materials.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Completion of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-approved training in exposure to hazardous chemicals and blood borne pathogens.
- Knowledge of the procedures, equipment and materials used in custodial work.
- Knowledge of the proper use, care and storage of custodial equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
- Skill in the application of custodial materials and chemicals, the operation of custodial equipment.
- Ability to carry out assignments according to established schedules and practices.
- Ability to understand and follow simple written and oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand cleaning product labels.
- Ability to perform calculations necessary to mix and apply cleaning products in proper application.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with those encountered in the work place.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with members of the general public.
- Ability to observe and report need for repairs.
- Ability to maintain simple records.
