What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Macon-Bibb County Government?
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for facility maintenance duties, assisting skilled crafts workers in the maintenance and repair of Macon-Bibb County buildings, structures, and equipment.
- Assists in wrecking and demolition of buildings or related facilities.
- Installs and takes down fences.
- Moves, sets up and takes down bleachers, scaffolding, stages, office furnishings and various equipment, etc.
- Picks up and delivers materials and equipment.
- Operates automotive related equipment incidental to the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Performs other unique and specialized duties as may be required by the department.
- Cleans and maintains materials and equipment.
- Dig holes, trenches, or excavations.
- Maintains tools and equipment.
- Assist in inventory of tools and materials; keep them clean and in working condition.
The Maintenance Technician should possess, a high school diploma or a tenth grade education at minimum and zero (0) to two (2) years' experience in building/construction related maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Must be available to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.
- Ability and willingness to work on a scaffold as required.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Skill in the safe operation of maintenance related equipment (weed eaters, mowers, chain saws, etc.)
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with member of the general public.
