GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under immediate supervision of the Lead Foreman License Plates, the Print Technician will use computers to create layouts and printed materials that are sent to printing presses for production.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process customer files according to desired specifications.
- Use digital duplicating machines to create high-quality print copies from a variety of source files.
- Operate digital color equipment and standard document finishing equipment. Perform minor repairs and routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot any printer issues that arise.
- Replace ink, paper, toner, labels, and additional printing materials as they run out. Responsible for ensuring that all needed supplies are fully stocked. Order labels and other components to keep operations going efficiently.
- Create or implement a supply purchase schedule to make sure all work deadlines are maintained.
- Examine job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, and color sequences.
- Inspect and examine printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defects.
- Input instructions in order to program automated machinery, using a computer keyboard.
- Load, position, and adjust unprinted materials on holding fixtures or in equipment loading and feeding mechanisms.
- Monitor feeding, printing, and racking processes of presses in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions; make any necessary adjustments.
- Remove printed materials from presses, using handtrucks, electric lifts, or hoists, and transport them to drying, storage or finishing areas.
- Reposition printing plates, adjust pressure rolls, or otherwise adjust machines to improve print quality, using knobs, handwheels, or hand tools
- Set and adjust speed, temperature, ink flow, and positions and pressure tolerances of equipment.
- Maintain records of goods produced, supplies used, production costs, and machine maintenance and repair activities.
- Reports damaged or down equipment to the Area License Plate Foreman or designated staff in his/her absence.
- Maintains a clean, orderly work environment: wipes down equipment, sweep work area, and returns equipment and work supplies to proper storage areas on a daily and as-needed basis as assigned daily.
- Handles industrial materials properly, as directed and in accordance with agency safety policies and procedures.
- Assumes the responsibility to attend and complete the initial MRI training requirements (core training and job-specific training). On an ongoing basis, attends and participates in any required recertification or refresher sessions and/or other training deemed appropriate by the supervisor and/or the Program/Department Director within specified time frames.
- Communicates, retains, and releases information (both written and verbal) on a need-to-know basis and in accordance with the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act and Macon Resources, Inc. Policies and Procedures.
- Practices and enforces MRI Safety Policies and Procedures and assures the safety of staff, persons/families served, agency guests, and agency property.
- Keeps supervisor informed verbally and in writing of problems and activities within assigned area of responsibility; refers matters beyond the limit of authority and expertise to the supervisor for direction.
- Performs special projects or other related work within the scope of the job responsibilities of this position as required or requested.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- One year previous experience in operating a digital or commercial printer is preferred.
- Must be able to learn to safely operate or load/off-load a variety of equipment.
- Must be able to inspect in-process and completed products for compliance to specifications.
- Must be able to meet the following physical capabilities:
a. lift 40 pounds;
b. stand or sit for extended periods of time,
c. full range mobility: push, pull, turn, balance, handle, stoop, kneel, grasp, reach;
d. good eyesight with depth perception, color vision, eye/hand coordination, acuity-field and acuity-near vision;
e. good bi-manual hand and finger dexterity; and
f. communicate.
6. Must be able to work in the following environment in a heated and cooled building:
a. temperature variations;
b. noise and vibration variations;
c. light and ventilation variations;
d. moving objects.
7. Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written work instructions.
8. Must be able to keep products in correct numerical sequence to 10,000; alphabetical order to 8 characters; and combination sequences containing 1-4 alphabet and 1-6 number characters.
9. Must be able to recognize and match colors and shades of color.
10. Must be able to complete MRI training requirements.
11. Must be able to maintain payroll, financial, personnel, and information related to persons served as confidential and in accordance with the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act and the Policies and Procedures of Macon Resources, Inc.
12. Must be able to adhere to the Safety Policies and Procedures of Macon Resources, Inc.
