What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stormwater Conveyance Technician I position at Macon Water Authority?
Job Summary:
Perform unskilled to skilled workers to maintain and repair stormwater pipes and structures and related equipment for the Authority’s stormwater utility.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects, installs, and repairs stormwater pipes, catch basins, ditches, and other systems used in the collection, storage, and transmittal of stormwater runoff
- Inspect stormwater pipes and structures for defects and clogging problems and record finding.
- Inspects, cleans, and mows Macon Levee/Public Detention Ponds
- Locates stormwater structures; maintains cleanliness of stormwater pipes, catch basins, and ditches.
- Drives automotive equipment to job location; places barricades and signals at the worksite.
- Picks up and delivers various materials, equipment and supplies; maintains supply inventories on trucks and shops; assists in loading and unloading items hauled.
- On-call for emergencies.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in the maintenance and repair of stormwater pipes and structures
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping
- Occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
- Ability to carry 50 pounds or more.
- Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor for extended periods, possibly under adverse weather or working conditions.
- Occasionally require climbing and traveling over various terrain.
- Ability to grasp and hold.
