Database Administrator

Position Summary

The Database Administrator will be responsible for regular maintenance, backups, and performance improvement for Mactac North America's database environment, primarily Microsoft SQL Server. This position will also be responsible for the build of new database environments. The position will partner with lines of business, application administrators, and systems administrators to provide a highly available and high performing database environment. The Database Administrator will be responsible for efficient storage and safeguarding of company data.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture and design of the database environment, primarily Microsoft SQL Server
• Highest tier of support for databases
• Maintenance, backups, and patching of company databases
• Mentoring of other support personnel to promote career paths for this position and others
• Collaborating with the lines of business to understand their data, how to organize it, provide access to it, and safeguard it
• Collaborating in a team environment to support other IT professionals and their environments including systems and applications
• Providing collaborative feedback on IT Roadmap, and continuous improvement
• Providing guidance and recommendation to senior management on emerging database technologies
• Staying up to date with continuous learning of new technologies and industry trends to provide up to date recommendations to leadership and peers
• Project based tasks, including design of new systems/databases, to support the introduction of new solutions and functionalities to the corporate landscape
• To provide maximum value for our business partners through projects and continuous improvement of existing environments

Selection Criteria:

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, business, related field, or demonstratable work experience
  • Preferred certifications in database or systems technologies
• Experience:
  • 5 Years of experience in Information Technology roles
  • 3 Years of experience in Database Administration
  • 3 Years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
• Other:
