Position Summary
Receive and store all spare machine parts and components, continuously monitor and maintain desired inventory levels, record all receiving transaction data on the Parts Storeroom computer system, and assist employees in locating needed machine parts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receives, identifies, stores, monitors, and distributes all spare/replacement parts, tools, machine rolls, dies, extruder screws, and production supplies.
- Marks identifies and locates high-capital items, dies, screws, and machine rolls in a manner to minimize the possibility of loss.
- Maintains a system on all spare parts, providing part identification, receivers by date, distributions by date, desired minimum-maximum inventory levels, etc.
- Identifies problem areas in inventory control and brings them to the attention of the Parts Storeroom Supervisor with a recommendation for solution.
- Maintains a locator system for all spare parts that will assure efficient handling and ease of location for each item.
- Receives, identifies, and stores materials for engineering projects and maintenance work orders until needed for installation.
- Orders replacement parts when needed in emergencies or during vacation coverage for the Parts Storeroom Associate.
- Assists vendors in unloading large parts at points of delivery.
- Performs physical inventory counts on high-use items and at satellite storage areas.
- Responsible for maintenance of the capital investment in spare parts and supplies for the plant.
- Responsible for the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all records initiated in the spare parts organization.
- Failure to maintain proper levels of spare parts inventories could result in excessive machine downtime and, therefore, result in greater production costs.
Scope:
- Works together in a team environment with the Parts Storeroom employees and Maintenance Manager.
- Has daily contact with the hourly maintenance employees on matters relating to parts distribution and inventories.
- Also has routine contact with Contractors, Production Supervisors and hourly production personnel for parts, supplies, distribution, or issues.
- Will have contact with Project Engineers and the Plant Engineering Groups relating to the receiving and storage of project parts and equipment.
- Will occasionally be required to call parts vendors to obtain parts information or to make follow-up calls. This will be necessary during the absence of the Parts Storeroom Associate.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires daily lifting and moving of received parts (can be up to 50 lbs.). The job does require forklift operation to move heavy parts and equipment. Approximately 80-90% of the work performed in this position will be done standing.
- Forklift operation is required and may be necessary a couple of times a week
