What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Macula Vitreous Retina Physicians & Surgeons?
This is an excellent opportunity to join Dr Carvounis and his team at Macula Vitreous Retina Physicians & Surgeons, in the Texas Medical Center in Houston where we endeavor to provide patients with the best possible retina care while treating them as family. Dr Carvounis has over 60 publications in scientific journals, has trained over 100 ophthalmologists, has received awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists and has a high surgical volume practice.
We are searching for applicants who are honest, hard-working, personable, learn fast and can sustain a fast pace (we see 45-60 patients daily). Fluency in Spanish is preferred. Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician/assistant is preferred, but we can train promising individuals. In our practice the ophthalmic technicians also perform imaging (we can train you to do this if you have not done this previously). There is tremendous opportunity for growth within the company or to then go on to optometry or medical school as several of our previous employees have done.
Hourly pay depends on skills/performance ($16/hr for someone without prior experience, significantly higher for COAs/COTs) and is supplemented by a performance-based bonus.
