Position Overview

The Personalization Pods are cross-functional agile personalization teams empowered to rapidly A/B test, measure, & scale customer engagement strategies across touchpoints and priority customer segments. The Pods are a key lever of the Polaris strategy, aimed at personalizing customer experiences, driving incremental revenue, and creating new, agile ways of working at Macy’s.

 

Reporting to the Director, Agile (Personalization), the Agile Lead helps a Personalization Pod to communicate, solve problems, and deliver on Pod goals. The Agile Lead teaches Macy’s-specific agile practices, removes impediments for the group, and mediates dependencies. The Agile Lead is a personal coach for team members and builds cohesion in the Pod. The Agile Lead works closely with the Strategy Lead to manage stakeholders across the organization, support documentation needs, and keep Pod operations running smoothly, all while focused on the customer.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Pod to adopt agile best practices
  • Guide the team and organization on agile practices and methodologies to support A/B testing
  • Oversee the agile process for a given Pod and coach the team; facilitate transparency and adaptation to deliver impact
  • Thoughtfully lead daily standup, office hours, and planning meetings to ensure full team engagement
  • Unlock barriers to Pod success
  • Coach Pod members to remove impediments (e.g. logistical challenges, vendor dependencies) to help unlock potential for Pod impact in personalization testing
  • Foster close cooperation across all team members, encouraging cross-training and mutual support
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration inside and outside the team (e.g. aligning work & processes with partner Pods, etc.)
  • Enable growth within the Pod and organization
  • Foster self-organization and growth within the team; push the team when necessary
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of negative repercussions, etc.
  • Keep the Pod organized and accountable, developing documentation to support test tracking, results tracking, & knowledge-sharing
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or management as business needs dictate

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in agile processes
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functionally, motivate teams, and inspire others to action
  • Exceptional written communication, PowerPoint, and presentation skills for diverse audiences
  • Results-oriented self-starter with demonstrated impact across strategy and execution
  • Cross-functional project management experience, ideally supporting high impact, high-visibility corporate strategies
  • Collaborative mindset, paired with demonstrated ability to operate with relative independence in a complex organization
  • Creative, innovative thinker able to apply structure and analytical rigor to complex problems and associated decision-making
  • Comfort with ambiguity and able to challenge the status quo in the pursuit of optimal solutions
  • Innate curiosity, with a commitment to continuous growth and development
  • Demonstrated passion for customer strategy and retail, media-savvy a plus, personalization experience a plus, experience with agile operating models required
  • BA/BS degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field preferred
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience (consulting, retail strategy, marketing, product delivery, etc.).
