Sr. Planner – Retail Planning 

Duties & Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

VP of Planning

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Sr. Planner, you will be responsible for comprehensive wholesale & retail planning functions in an omni-channel environment (B2B, B2B2C, B2C).  You will be a key driver of sales by identifying opportunities and risks to current business performance, giving recommendations on strategic business decisions, and maximizing sales & profitability for your owned categories.   Working closely with both external and internal stakeholders, you will provide superlative customer service through thoughtful analysis of current business trends as well as future forecasting projections.  

Additionally, the Sr. Planner will be active in the development and execution of strategic planning processes within the company.  This position will have indirect leadership responsibilities within the planning organization – including growth and development of junior peers.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fashion and apparel industry, exceptional analytical skills, and a strategic mindset.

This is a hybrid work position, with a requirement to work out of our Frisco, TX office 2-3 days weekly.   Some periodic travel may be required (less than 5%).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Commercial Planning and Analysis:

  • Initiate analysis and develop financial recommendations for a rapidly growing, omni-channel retail business.
  • Partner with internal Sales team to develop merchandise strategies, driving sales & profitability.
  • Develop business plans in partnership with external Merchant partners and provide analysis of historical data to forecast trends.
  • Create/maintain weekly Sales Reports and Item Plans for distribution to internal & external business partners.
  • Support Key Account business partners on ad hoc customer support needs, such as purchase order writing, buy planning, or sales analysis.
  • Monitor and re-trend Sales & Inventory forecasts for both Stores and E-Comm channels.

2. Inventory Management:

  • Maintain internal balance sheets to ensure optimal inventory levels and production forecasts. 
  • Implement inventory control procedures to maximize sales & minimize overstock and stockouts.
  • Coordinate with Production and Supply Chain teams to balance inventory levels with wholesale demand.
  • Monitor flow of goods and make recommendations to external partners to maximize commercial sales.
  • Conduct analysis of inventory productivity to identify areas of opportunity in replenishment or allocation strategy.
  • Mitigate liability through effective analysis and re-trending of inbound and outbound inventory projections.

3. Demand Forecasting:

  • Ensure accurate maintenance of Master Forecasting tool to capture wholesale forecasts by item.
  • Coordinate with Account Management partners to ensure timely flow of inventory and identify any risks to demand forecasts.
  • Utilize Commercial sales forecasts to re-trend Demand forecasts appropriately, identifying risks and opportunities to leadership.

4. Leadership and Growth:

  • Act as lead within Planning team, with direct ownership of department-level processes and projects.
  • Be a champion for change management and growth, fostering a positive culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support and facilitate training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Regularly review processes & tools, identifying opportunities for refinement.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
  • 7 years of professional retail experience, with minimum of 3-5 years of experience in planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management within the fashion and apparel industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel, plus all MS Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Previous experience working in Project Management systems (such as Basecamp, MS Planner) a plus.
  • Excellent collaboration and team-building abilities.
  • Proficient in planning software and ERP systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Growth mindset.
