PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Physical Therapy Assistant assists the Physical Therapist in providing medically prescribed Physical Therapy treatments to restore function and prevent disability. The Physical Therapy Assistant will be able to function in an independent manner.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate from a school for P.T. Assistants approved by the California P.T. Examining Committee or have training and/or experience which in the opinion of the P.T. Examining Committee is equivalent to that obtained in an approved school.
• Eligible for licensing or is already licensed by the state of California.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Physical, auditory and visual requirements as stated in attached copy of the Job Task Analysis.
• Emotional stability conducive to dealing with a high stress level for 8 hours at a time associated to dealing with fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing conditions, creative problem solving, emotional demands and demands of maintaining effective working relationship with patients and peers.
• Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
• High level of organizational skills with keen mental faculties to perform assessment and decision making skills in the management acute and chronically ill patients.
• Communication/speaking/annunciation skills to receive and give information in person or by telephone.
