The State Development Director is responsible for the development, oversight, execution and monitoring of a diversified comprehensive fund development and public awareness plan, aligned with MADD’s strategic plan at the state or local level. Ensures effective and aggressive growth in fund development through core strategies which are committed to fulfilling MADD’s mission, including but not limited to: corporate, foundation and major gifts solicitation, individual giving, 3rd party events, honor/memorial giving and fundraising programs for the entire State.

This is a hybrid position, the selected candidate will go into the MADD Arizona office occassionally on a pre-scheduled basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Create and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet the organization's financial goals.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
  • Explore new funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to diversify revenue streams.
  • Develop and manage an annual fundraising plan, including setting fundraising targets and timelines.
  • Revenue target: $500k
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
  • Develop personalized cultivation and stewardship plans for major donors and sponsors.
  • Plan and organize donor recognition events, campaigns, and engagement initiatives.
  • Manage Law Enforcement Gala annual event
  • Tracks fundraising activities and sponsorship engagement in Salesforce.
  • Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, applications, and reports to secure funding.
  • Manage the grant application and reporting process, ensuring compliance with deadlines and requirements.
  • Develop and implement a fundraising volunteer recruitment plan to assure adequate volunteer resources for all fundraising activities for the state or region.
  • Collaborate with the organizational development team to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Provide input and expertise on fundraising strategies, revenue generation, and financial sustainability.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in non-profit fundraising.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications).
  • 5 years of experience raising revenue greater than $500k, depending on state size and complexity.
  • Proven experience in non-profit fundraising and development, with a focus on major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual and institutional donors.
  • Experience in grant writing, grant management, and compliance.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using fundraising software, databases, and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities.
