What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Welder/Fabricator position at Madden Industrial Craftsman?
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a qualified Lead Welder/Fabricator for a long-term, day shift role in NW Portland, OR. The person in this position will support a job shop specializing in large and intricate products weighing up to 100,000 lbs.
Pay: $40–$46/hour
Lead Welder/Fabricator Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and procedures
- Weld with Hardwire, Fluxcore, Sub-Arc, TIG, and Stick processes, with an emphasis on Hardwire and Fluxcore.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed, and the proper PPE is in place
- Perform First Article Inspections.
- Train, and supervise weld staff
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with fit up, or machines as they occur
- Coordinate jobs
- Evaluate welder performance
- Perform other duties and assist other departments as required
Lead Welder/Fabricator Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting is required
- Deep knowledge of welding, and cutting processes
- Must be strong with Hardwire, Fluxcore, and Sub-Arc processes. Should have experience with TIG and Stick as well
- 5 years' experience as a welder
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
- Should have a positive and professional attitude
- Available to work weekends and overtime
- Capable of standing for extended periods of time
