What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marina Attendant position at Madden's on Gull Lake?
Madden's is an award-winning resort, located on more than 1,000 acres, that anticipates the wishes and desires of vacationers and offers them fantastic golf, upscale dining, lakeside spa, tennis, activity programs for children, biking, shopping, and art gallery with painting classes and almost every kind of on-the-water recreation possible in Minnesota, including fishing. Maddens is currently seeking the position of Marina Attendant. This position will assist guests with all things having to do with Maddens Marina and its activities. Renting boats and pontoons, selling sundries from inside the Marina, filling boats with gas, and ensuring the safety of guests and employees at the marina.
- Instruct patrons on the correct operations of all rental boats and the rules and regulations for use of Gull Lake.
- Assist or tow disabled boats to dock for repair.
- Refuel gasoline motors.
- Account for correct money transactions and cash drawer.
- Rent boats and equipment to members and guests.
- Customer service and satisfaction.
- Log and handle all paperwork accurately.
- Notify Marina Manager of any changes, conflicts, repairs, or maintenance issues.
- Is knowledgeable of boats, fishing, and bait operations.
- Monitor usage of facility (enforces rules and regulations).
- Assure that all forms and waivers are properly signed and filed.
- Answer phones, handle situations and take correct telephone messages.
- Service all departments, fellow employees, members, and guests concerning any matters that come up on a daily basis in regard to the Marina Department.
- Be familiar with Maddens policies and procedures that directly involve the marina operation and lake use.
- Notify Marina Manager in writing of any scheduling conflicts.
- Keep the marina and surrounding area clean and maintained properly.
- Keep the beach in the best condition possible.
- Check Member and Guest cards.
- Stop people from possible personal injury or destroying property.
- Swim out and inspect inflatables that are in operating order every morning, day, night.
- Serve as Beach security to insure the exclusivity for guests.
- Must be able to lift 50#.
- Also perform any other task assigned by Marina Manager or Recreation Director
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to keep a calm, professional manner under stressful situations.
- Maintains a proactive Can Do attitude.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively manage time and complete all delegated work within the specified time.
- Ability to work in a team and coordinate work functions with fellow workers.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Recreation or relevant experience.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Lifeguard and CPR certification preferred, but not required.

Work Environment:
Work is performed mainly outside at our Marina Beach.
Physical Demands:
Primarily standing for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to stand, walk, talk/hear, both in person and by telephone, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50-pounds and items sometimes repeatedly.
Expected Hours of Work:
Varying work schedule during summer months including nights and weekends.
Travel:
Less than 10% travel required.
