Barista/Bartender - Outta the Blue Cafe

Outta the Blue is Made in KC's beach inspired cafe concept featuring full-sized indoor palm trees, pressed juices, natural wines, breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Part cafe, part bar, Outta the Blue is meant for conversation and socialization in our cozy little beach oasis.

MUST HAVE

We are looking for an experienced Barista/Bartender to join our team! Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Barista.

Must have a mix of availability to work both weekday and weekend shifts, both daytime and evening.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Outta the Blue is looking for a talented Barista/Bartender to add to our growing team. The ideal candidate will have an interest in Kansas City’s creative community, and be familiar with the coffee and/or service industry. A successful Barista/Bartender will take responsibility for maintaining a clean and stocked cafe and assist with various auxiliary projects. The position requires a willingness to learn about our unique menu offerings, the brands we sell and the products we carry. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Barista and at least 1 year of customer service experience. BARTENDING EXPERIENCE IS A HUGE PLUS, but we can train you as a bartender if you don't have experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow drink recipes accurately, ensuring a consistent customer experience.
• Explain product offerings in an inclusive manner when engaging with curious customers.
• Work in an organized and clean manner keeping all tools in their place at all times, work area clean, FIFO, etc.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of spirit offerings, cocktail preparation and technique.
• Have basic product knowledge on our retail goods and our POS system, Square.
• Quickly stock and organize received shipments; retail or otherwise.
• Keep all products and their displays clean, stocked and looking good.
• Complete daily assigned tasks.
• Process opening and closing paperwork including till, tips & inventory.
• Thoroughly clean counters, floors, work spaces and ceramics/glass after each shift.
• Readily assist others on the team when necessary.
• Demonstrate all policies and procedures set forth in MIKC Cafe

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Minimum 1 year customer service experience, food and beverage preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Experience as a Barista
• Experience as a Bartender: Nice to have
• Excellent communication skills with manager and customers
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Must have evening availability, and flexible on the weekends

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 34 per week
