What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Testing Technician at MADE Laboratory position at MADE Laboratory?
MADE Laboratory is looking for a Lab Testing Technician—someone who knows the ins and outs of apparel decoration, thrives on problem-solving, and loves geeking out over quality and process. This isn’t a production job, but your 5 years of hands-on experience with screen printing, heat transfer, DTG, and embroidery will be used daily in testing, analyzing, and improving the way apparel is decorated across the industry.

- Put apparel decoration methods to the test using the latest equipment in a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled lab
- Evaluate samples for durability, wash-fastness, color accuracy, and print quality
- Experiment, document, and troubleshoot processes to help brands and suppliers improve their products
Data & Reporting
- Capture test results, document findings, and create reports that help companies make real improvements
- Take high-quality photos of test samples for documentation and reporting
Industry Impact & Continuous Learning
- Stay ahead of the curve by participating in MADE Lab’s industry events, workshops, and testing projects
- Collaborate with some of the biggest names in the apparel industry to refine and innovate decoration techniques
- Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of apparel decoration experience, including screen-printing, heat-transfer, direct-to-garment printing and embroidery
- Skills
- Proficiency in various apparel decoration techniques, including screen-printing, heat-transfer, direct-to-garment printing, and embroidery
- Ability to pass a color test
- Attention to detail: A keen eye for subtle differences in color and texture
- Ability to follow written instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Proficient in data entry and documentation in a Mac environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- You’ve run a print shop (or a department) and can spot a bad print from across the room
- You love testing, troubleshooting, and figuring out what makes a process better
- You’re meticulous and can follow standard operating procedures like a pro
- You actually enjoy screen printing and garment decoration
- You just want a job—this is for people who care about the craft
- You hate following procedures and think “close enough” is good enough
- You aren’t flexible—this is a lab role, but things change fast, and we need problem-solvers
- You won’t take out the trash—we all pitch in when needed
We don’t just want a resume—we want to see your skills in action. To apply, find a printed garment with a flaw (misprint, registration issue, fibrillation, etc.) and write a short paragraph on what went wrong and how you’d fix it. Attach a photo.
