Madison College is hiring a Program Manager to work within our Renewable Energy program. In this role, you'll be at the heart of the new Energy Assessment Center, helping guide the future of clean energy at Madison College.

You'll be the main point of contact for local businesses and industries, coordinating and conducting energy assessments with a focus on solar energy, energy storage, and electric vehicle integration. You'll also work closely with college faculty to involve students in these hands-on projects, giving them valuable experience in the field.

Job Details : this is a full time, salaried, Limited-Term / Grant Funded position through June 30, 2027. This role offers the flexibility to perform some work remotely, which is subject to change according to Madison College policy.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serves as primary point of contact with small and medium size manufacturer clients. Conducts interviews and site visits to quantify client energy use and understand their project goals. Examines manufacturing operations to identify potential for energy savings, and on-site energy generation. Maintains communication and provides outreach to help clients improve their business operations and evaluate opportunities for clean energy investment.
  • Works with Renewable Energy students, faculty, and business owners to conduct clean energy site assessments (Solar PV, Energy Storage, Electric Vehicles, Energy Efficiency, etc.).
  • Prepares, reviews, interprets, and analyzes a variety of complex information sources including utility bills, energy monitoring data, energy model outputs, and financial projections. Ensures accuracy of information; summarizes findings, and makes recommendations for clients based on findings.
  • Leads / Coordinates incumbent worker seminars / workshops for clients on topics that might include, how to read an energy bill, demand reduction and peak shaving, energy efficiency, basic solar photovoltaics, and other clean energy topics.
  • Assists with client recruitment, providing presentations to Madison College industry advisory board members, and other industry organizations in the community.
  • Responsible for completion of various grant required data collection, reports and paperwork.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to a diverse audience and the ability to engage, professionally and work collaboratively, with all members of the college community and the public.
  • Experience in solar, energy storage, and / or energy management field such as solar site assessment, system design, energy auditor, energy management consultant, energy program manager, facility manager, architect, engineer, building control operator, etc.
  • Working knowledge of utility rate structures, and financial incentives for clean energy investments (e.g. FocusOnEnergy, Inflation Reduction Act, Energy Innovation Grant Program, etc.)
  • Familiarity with and use of computer software including MS Word, MS Excel, and various virtual meeting platforms. Experience with Apps for solar site assessment, building energy modeling, and energy investment analysis tools such as PV Watts, Aurora, HelioScope, HOMER, PV Syst, Scanifly, SolarProjectBuilder, RETScreen, Slipstream's Sketchbox, Energy Toolbase, and / or the NREL System Advisor Model.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, personal vehicle insurance, and be able / willing to travel distances of up to 90 miles to visit industry clients (personal vehicle mileage will be compensated according to federal GSA reimbursement guidelines and rates).
  • Qualifications :

  • Minimum Education
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) or Journey Worker or Master Worker status.

  • Experience
  • At least five years of progressive work experience. Preference given to those applicants with Direct experience in clean energy technology (solar PV, energy storage, electric vehicles), or additional experience in energy efficiency or energy management.
