What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Lifeguards position at Madison County, AL?
Job Summary
We are seeking a lifeguard to ensure the safety of patrons at our pool. This is a seasonal position that requires working weekdays, weeknights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor activities at the pool and prevent accidents
- Administer first aid and care as required by the professional rescuer
- Follow facility emergency action plan and complete injury reports
- Enforce and adhere to pool rules and inspect facilities for general cleanliness
- Provide information to patrons in a respectful and friendly manner
- Clean the pool by performing routine skimming, sweeping, and vacuuming
Requirements
- General education
- Knowledge of proper use of lifeguard and pool equipment
- Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid for the professional rescuer and standard resuscitation measures (CPR)
- Ability to react quickly and calmly to an emergency
- Ability to perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR
- Ability to work in tandem with a team of lifeguards and pool staff
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to swim
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to communicate effectively
Certifications or Licenses Required
- Red Cross or equivalent adult and infant CPR certification and First Aid for the professional rescuer certification
- Lifeguard training class and hold a current lifeguard certification
