The Building and Construction Lead position performs skilled supervisory work in conjunction with performing construction, maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of the building and mechanical trades. Employee will assist the Assistant Facilities Director in leading of construction, maintenance, and building functions and on sight leading of carpentry staff. The employee in this position will coordinate work efforts of assigned employees and ensure activities are sequenced correctly. Employee must have a thorough knowledge in the construction and maintenance fields and with various building methods or elements of the job. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively is also required. Assignments are given as needed by the Assistant Facilities Director. Employee is responsible for efficiency of their crews and will work alongside them. Work and performance is reviewed periodically by the Facilities Director.

(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)All duties of Carpenter III position in addition to the below duties and responsibilities: Coordinates construction activities.Advises and participates in minor refinishing and alteration activities. Works with Facilities Director, Assistant Facilities Director and contractors on more complicated repair and installations jobs; orders materials and equipment as directed by Assistant Facilities Director.Supervises and performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled construction tasks requiring the use of construction equipment. Supervises work and keeps records of materials used and the progress made on a job, and reports to Assistant Facilities Director. May be required to maintain records and reports regarding construction.Makes periodic reports on work progress, inventory of supplies and equipment.

Physical RequirementsMust be able to work varying hours seven days a week. Must have physical ability to bend, stoop, crawl, lift up to 50 pounds and work in inclement weather conditions.
