What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Technician position at Madison County Commission?
JOB
The Electronics Technician position performs skilled tasks associated with low voltage control and operations systems. The position reports to the Assistant Facilities Director but also works with the Information Systems Department to ensure access control, camera and other low voltage monitoring and control systems are operating correctly and makes repairs as needed. The position needs to have knowledge of building codes for running cabling and basic knowledge of the construction process. Work performed will be reviewed periodically by the Facilities Director.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on access control hardware, including, but not limited to, Badge Readers, request to exit devises, door position devises, electric strikes, door magnets and head end equipment.Program setup and access for proximity cards used for access control system.Perform troubleshooting and minor repair on camera systems.Troubleshoots fire system troubles and performs minor repair and programming on fire system.Meets with fire system contractor for inspections and repairs.Assists electricians and HVAC staff as needed for controls trouble shooting and repairs.Directs access control and Camera installation contractors in setup and wire path to proper head end switches.Runs and terminates low voltage cabling as needed. Ability to run, pull, and splice copper.Ability to terminate CAT5, SE, CAT6, low voltage cables.Ability to verify cable pathways, conduct site surveys, assist in designing, creating, and implementing standards and specifications.Work with Information Technology (IT) to mount telecom equipment while adhering to best practices or industry standards and manufacturer requirements.Mount switches using data provided by the IT Department Team.Establish or assist the troubleshooting of video, audio, and IP networks with IT staff, and provide material and labor estimates as required.Assemble server/data racks, patch panels, and cable management trays.Other duties as assigned.

Physical RequirementsMust possess a valid driver's license, and a safe driving records acceptable to Madison County’s vehicle insurance.Must have physical ability to bend, stoop, crawl, lift up to 50 pounds.Certifications or Licenses RequiredMust have a minimum of and valid Class D license and be insurable by the Madison County Commission's risk underwriters.To be considered for this position, all applicants must complete the employment application in full.
