JOB
Under general direction, employee performs responsible technical work in the service, repair, and operation of air conditioning, heating and ventilating systems. Employee may consult with contractors and work from manufacturers specifications and plans in installing new equipment or in replacing parts. Routine maintenance and operation is performed independently of specific instructions but in accordance with general operating requirements established by a technical superior. Work is primarily done in the courthouse, but as required may be done in other county owned buildings.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)Installs and maintains air conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment. Starts and operates compressor units. Overhauls motors, cleans and adjusts temperature records, checks and repairs all pumps.Conducts all water treatment daily.Calibrates pressure gauges, meters and similar devices. Checks all indicating instruments periodically to know the functioning level of each unit.Repairs units by replacing defective breaker controls thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring using electricians hand tools and test equipment. Services and repairs forced-air heating systems in combination with air conditioning systems. Lubricates fans, motors and control units; replaces belts; relays compressors and circuit boards.Repairs, replaces and installs various types of plumbing fixtures, supply lines and drainage systems.Performs related work as required.

Physical RequirementsBend, stoop, climb a ladder on occasion, and lift up to 50 Lbs. Utilize hand tools to perform plumbing work, HVAC / Occasional Electrical/door, and lock work.Certifications or Licenses RequiredUniversal Refrigerant Certification.Apprentice Plumbing and Gas Certification.
