Primary Functions:
1. Plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to the physician’s diagnosis. Screens newly admitted patients to identify those at nutritional risk. Acts as a member of the multidisciplinary care team.
2. Evaluates the results of nutritional intervention on the patient’s nutritional status to determine the need to revise the nutritional plan. Improves patient’s nutritional status by consulting with physician on appropriate nutritional interventions.
3. Interacts professionally with patient/family. Provides nutritional teaching and counseling to patient/family in making desired changes in eating habits.
4. Treats patients and families with dignity and respect. Ensures confidentiality of patient records. Interacts professionally with patients and families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary
Other Duties as Assigned: Accepts other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Licensed Dietitian in the State of Ohio.
Experience: One to three years’ experience in hospital or other institutional dietary setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to sequence work in order of importance or urgency, exercise normal independent judgment, be able to do simple mathematical calculations and be able to respond to detailed verbal and written instructions. Basic knowledge of computers. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Demonstrates flexibility, ability to multi-task and effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
