About the position: As a Patient Care Assistant at Madison Health, you will be responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in the department setting. Performs tasks under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment. This is a day shift position that will be scheduled from 7am to 7pm three days per week in our Med/Surg Unit.
Key job qualities/duties:
- Provides patients with assistance with activities of daily living. Assists with feeding patients and maintaining fluid balance with technique appropriate for patient’s age and physical condition. Provides additional care as required to meet the personal needs and comfort of assigned patients.
- Provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill and acutely ill patients within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and physical needs.
- Communicates to the RN any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric and general patient population.
- Provides clerical support necessary for the efficient functioning of the patient care unit as needed.
What qualifications are we looking for?
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- BLS certification within 30 days of employment required.
