Position Overview
This is a part time, seasonal position under direction of the County Commission Liaison. Performs overseeing the seasonal operation of the Farmer's Market. Requires good judgment, independent action, and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors/farmers, County Commission, and the general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)
- Oversees the daily operations of the facility.
- Explains and enforces established rules pertaining to the operation of the market.
- Responsible for maintaining sanitary standards, general cleanliness, parking discipline and security measures as necessary.
- Ensures that space is allocated and rented to qualified vendors according to established guidelines.
- Computes daily, weekly, and monthly rental fees.
- Collects and delivers revenues derived from rent of space in the market to the County Commission Finance Department.
- Assists in establishing standard prices for produce in conjunction with the vendors.
- Administers policies set by the County Commission.
- Answers inquiries from customers regarding availability of produce, prices, etc. Monitors and supports vendors at all times.
- Responsible for all promotion and marketing of the Farmer's Market and special events at the market.
- Provides accurate written reports to supervisor on income and operations as directed.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with experience in agricultural produce marketing.
- Considerable knowledge of retail operations as they pertain to the operation of a market.
- Ability to make basic computations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to prepare written status reports.
- Ability to maintain harmonious relations among the various vendors.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with the general public.
