Position Overview
This position will assist in the daily operations of the Madison County Sheriff's Office under the direction of the Sheriff, Chief, Division Commander and Division Supervisor. The employee will oversee critical special projects assigned to them and manage various software platforms utilized by the Sheriff's Office. The employee will also act as the primary manager of critical material assets belonging to the Sheriff's Office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Investigate and gather data to assist senior management in decision making, prepare spreadsheets and correlate information for distribution.
- The employee will also work in furtherance of compliance with policy and procedures.
- Performs special projects assigned by Sheriff, Chief, Division Commander and/or Department Supervisor.
- The employee is additionally tasked with assisting in administrative responsibilities to include purchasing functional supplies and assisting in the inventory of departmental material assets.
- Assists in planning, installing, upgrading, and maintaining emergency vehicle equipment including radios, sirens, and lighting systems.
- Overseeing and maintaining various software accounts used by the Sheriff's Office.
Education and Experience

- A minimum of two years public safety experience.
- Knowledge of general audit requirements and those specific to individual projects; skill to make presentations; skill to understand and analyze government regulations, policies and procedures.
- Skill to comprehend required instruction and verbal communication with others.
- Skill to utilize computer and software to effectively and efficiently develop and coordinate projects.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate work in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, public officials, representatives of other agencies and the general public, and to maintain flexibility and respect in all relationships.
- Ability to view a project with an open mind allowing for an exchange of thoughts before recommending a final action/ decision.
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible in new situations.
- Knowledge of public safety radio systems including proper usage, programming, and basic preventative maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of modern emergency vehicle equipment and the ability to diagnose and repair common problems.

- Must have the physical ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be willing to work non-standard or overtime hours; willing to travel overnight as required.

Dental Coverage: Dental coverage is included with LGHIP through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. LGHIP manages dental costs and provides enhanced dental benefits using negotiated discounts with in-network dentists. To locate in-network dentists go to www.bcbsal.com. Assuming the services are covered you will normally only be responsible for out of pocket.
Life Insurance: Madison County provides $25,000 in life, $25,000 in accidental death and dismemberment and $25,000 line of duty insurance to eligible employees in certified positions.
Employee Retirement Plans: Employees are required to participate in the Employees Retirement System, which is a Defined Benefit Plan administered through the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA). Participants contribute 5% to 8.5% of their earnings depending on their hire date and classification. Sworn Certified Personnel have an accelerated contribution schedule
- Employer contribution percentage is set by the Retirement Systems of Alabama and changes annually.
Employee Clinic: Madison County employees and dependents over age 12 may use the Employee Health Clinic for the low co-pay of $15.00 per visit. To be eligible to use the clinic, the employee and dependent must be enrolled in Madison County's health insurance plan as their primary coverage.
