Job Description
Responsible and accountable for all Dietary Departmental Operations, training of Dietary staff, and patient satisfaction with all aspects of dietary services.
Job Responsibilities
1. Supervise and assist in preparation of nutritious meals for the patients.
2. Visit patients and complete timely nutritional assessments and follow up according to state guidelines and policy and procedure.
3. Professional communication with all departments of the Hospital
4. Be alert to safety concerns within the department.
5. Monitor food quality, tray appearance, and smell of food to ensure pleasantness, appealing and high quality
6. Ensure dietary staff adheres to food and refrigeration temperatures to ensure regulatory guidelines are met.
7. Ensure Food and food supply demand ordering are conducted weekly and as needed
8. Complete payroll every other Monday.
9. Ensure all staff are in compliance with clean and sanitary equipment and cookware and utensils
10. Communicate effectively and timely with the Registered Dietician
11. Ensure compliance with Dietary budget (control, costs, and waste)
12. Attend all meeting and committees as scheduled.
13. Special event meals are planned and served according to need and special request
14. Complete staff orientation and evaluations timely and adheres to all Human Resources Policies in relating to coaching and corrective actions
15. Responsible for documentation standard and dietary management responsibilities in accordance to CDM Certification standards
16. Take a team approach in working with nursing staff and physician/providers to ensure medical record review of the patient’s weight and nutritional needs are reviewed and discussed.
17. Ensure dietary service standards and operations for staff performance, quality improvement/assurance, safety, food sanitation, infection control, patient satisfactions, food quality, and equipment and preventive maintenance are consistently at a high standard
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Certification as a Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) and credentialed by the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers required
· ServSafe Certification Required
· 2 years’ experience in a dietary department of a Hospital, SNF, or ALF
· 2 years Management Experience Required
· Computer experience with Microsoft Word required
· Computer experience with supply order systems required
· Experience with Electronic Medical Records required
· Active CPR certification required
