Job Description
General Education Behavior Specialists will provide direct and consultation behavioral services for regular education classes and regular education students, assess and support behavior support programs for students in regular education, write behavior plans for Tier 3 students, provide training and work collaboratively with site administrators, counselors, teachers, aides, and support staff to demonstrate best practices, strategies, and techniques to enhance instruction for students with social and behavioral challenges; and do other related work as required.
Requirements Or Qualifications
Education Level: Master's degree issued by an accredited college or university
Required Licensure
At least one of the following:
Licensed Social Worker, LMSW or LCSW
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
Mississippi Educator's License with Endorsement Code 206 or Code 216
Mississippi Educator's License School Psychologist, Endorsement code 451
BCBA Certification

- At least 3 years training and experience in behavior management in the educational settingMississippi Educator's License is preferredKnowledge of the MTSS framework, PBIS, restorative practices, trauma informed practices, and family engagement strategies
- Administers programs and services for the purpose of improved student behavior functioningEnsures program eligibility and compliance with established guidelines such as MDE's MTSS Framework and Federal, State, and District policies, regulations, and proceduresEnsures the integrity and consistency of the MTSS Framework and program structures and routinesConducts workshops, trainings, in-service presentations, etc., in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with studentsAssists in developing behavior screeners, diagnostics and other behavior assessments for studentsAssists administrators and counselors in developing interventions and behavior plans for Tier 1 and Tier 2 studentsAssists administrators and counselors in coaching school personnel on research- based methods of classroom management and behavior strategiesSummarizes and analyze behavior data from Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3Monitors the fidelity of the implementation of Tier 2 behavior plansCollects data via direct student observations and consultation with administrators, counselors, teachers, and parents regarding student behaviorsConducts Functional Behavior Assessments on students moving to T3 and present data to the school team and parentsDevelops behavior plans for Tier 3 students and monitor the fidelity of the implementation within the school setting and in the classroomProvides direct, ongoing services to Tier 3 students to improve their functioning within the schoolParticipates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying or gathering information required to perform functions and uphold program guidelinesParticipates in multi-disciplinary team meetings such as We Care and TSTParticipates and helps conduct parent-teacher meetings for T3 studentsDocuments program results, maintain accurate records and other required data, and prepare and submit reports in a timely mannerMaintains appropriate personal and professional boundaries and awareness regarding students, co-workers, families, and community membersDisplays ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the schoolFollows daily/ weekly schedule to provide consistent and scheduled support to all assigned schools
