Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Two years experience in vehicle maintenance and repair preferred
- Must hold or obtain a North Carolina commercial Class A Driver’s License with the P&S Endorsements
- Ability to physically do most repairs
- Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment and diagnostic equipment used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles
- Must be willing to continually update training
- Knowledge on repairing and maintaining air conditioning systems
- Ability to diagnose the causes of improperly operating electrical and generating systems of automotive vehicles and to make necessary repairs
- Rotate, replace and repair tires
- Repair and replace damaged vehicle body parts, seats, windows and windshields
- Diagnose minor and frequently occurring mechanical problems
- Test electrical systems and make necessary repairs
- Replace brake linings
- Fills fuel tanks on school buses
- Wash vehicles
- Performs general maintenance as needed to include repair of windows, and seats
- Other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Transportation Director or Designee
