Madison Court -
BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for general laundry duties, distribution of clean linen, and maintaining a clean work area.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collects soiled linens, sorts linen removing stained or damaged pieces.
Washes and dries linens. .
Promptly removes linens from dryers and sorts.
Hangs all clothes that needs to be hung.
Fold resident’s clothes including underwear, socks, tee-shirts, gowns / PJs and puts in designated storage bins / containers, etc...
Irons clothing items if needed.
Folds, counts and stacks / stores linens, etc., according to policy.
Keeps shelves organized and free of debris.
Fills emergency requisitions for extra linens.
Assesses linen needs and informs supervisor of linens taken out of service.
Washes, dries and distributes resident’s personal clothing as directed by supervisor.
Will store in designated container all resident’s clothing and linens that are in need of repairs.
Keeps equipment and work areas clean as needed and as scheduled.
Follows infection control policies and procedures.
Ensures resident’s rights
Attends inservice training and other related duties as required.
Participates in Performance Improvement process and Project Teams as needed.
Performs other duties as directed by supervisor
EXPOSURE RISK
Laundry Aide is at high risk for exposure to blood and body fluids.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Laundry Aide receives supervision from the Laundry Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Laundry Aide has no supervision responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Must have completed tenth 10
grade. High School Diploma / Vocational Diploma, GED is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
No experience required. On-the-job training is provided.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving intermittently during working hours.
Works in assigned areas of the facility.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
Attends and participates in educational / training programs.
Subject to cuts, bruises, falls, turns from equipment, odors, etc.
May be subjected to infectious diseases, substances, etc.
Communicates with nurses and other department personnel.
May be required to work in cramped spaces.
May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
Required to be On-Call for emergency situations.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
Perform and / or assist staff in an effective, professional cooperative manner when working in conjunction with supervisor, peers, and professional or supportive staff, in all duties required to provide quality care / programs in a pleasant environment for residents.
Must treat everyone with dignity and respect and possess the ability to deal tactfully with all staff, the residents, visitors, family members, etc.
Must be of good moral character.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must have the ability to work in harmony with other staff and be willing to work with residents at their maturity / functioning level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (With or without the aid of mechanical devices)
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must possess sight / hearing senses with our without prosthetics.
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
Must be physically able to lift, push and pull if required, no more than 25 lbs.
Must be able to work with and relate calmly to persons who are ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile residents, family members, visitors, etc.
Must function independently without constant direct supervision.
Must maintain good grooming, personal hygiene and appearance.
