A multibillion global real estate focused Asset Management firm with the specialty in credit and debt based investments is building out it’s finance function. As the firm continue to grow, they are looking for a new Director of Accounting. This is a new position created due to firm growth. The Director will report into the Chief Accounting Office and present key financial information to other C level executives while directly managing a team of 7.
This is not a standard accounting role as this person will have the opportunity to lead FPA, oversee all KPI metrics and provide analysis on future M&A deals.
There is a clear path of upward trajectory at the firm and are known within the industry to be on the higher end of competitive as it relates to compensation.
Job Summary:
The Accounting Director will manage the accounting functions supporting the CRE segment, which spans multiple business lines including loan servicing, asset management, and asset valuation. This supervisory role involves overseeing the recording of commercial activity, coordinating monthly financial close processes, and ensuring the effective design and operation of controls over financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and expertise in US GAAP, and will play a key role in ensuring compliance and optimizing accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including revenue recognition, invoicing, and recording of operating expenses for various business line.
- Coordinate the month-end close process and ensure accurate financial reporting for the CRE segment.
- Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to analyze results against budgets, forecasts, and trends.
- Design and maintain internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring their effectiveness in collaboration with Operations.
- Report on Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership, including the Chief Accounting Officer, on a monthly basis.
- Supervise and manage accounting personnel across multiple CRE business lines, ensuring alignment and efficiency.
- Coordinate with international teams, including counterparts in Europe and offshore support in Asia.
- Assist in preparing for external audits and provide necessary documentation as needed.
- Support FP&A in the preparation of annual financial budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s accounting policies and US GAAP standards.
- Prepare or oversee documentation for complex or episodic transactions as required.
- Engage in other tasks and projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BA/BS in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- 10 years of industry or relevant experience (combination of industry RE investment and public accounting preferred)
- Experience with M&A and subsequent integrations preferred
- Proficiency with Excel, Workday, OneStream, or similar platforms
Salary : $185,000 - $235,000
