This role involves coaching staff, participating in departmental transformation projects, and providing management with insights on risk evaluations. The VP will also be responsible for continuous monitoring programs, assessing changes in both internal and external environments, and evaluating their impact on business activities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-performing team and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the organization’s audit capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to audit assignments, including complex, global, and multi-team audits, overseeing all aspects of the audit process with full ownership of assigned audits.
- Independently manage various types of audit missions, ensuring quality and impact.
- Prepare high-quality and impactful audit reports, particularly executive summaries, that effectively address key issues for management’s attention.
- Actively participate in the department’s continuous monitoring programs, evaluating the impact of ongoing changes in the internal and external environment related to specific audited activities.
- Participate in various stages of the annual risk assessment, providing professional conclusions on the evaluation of risks.
- Coach staff to help develop their competencies and provide formal, objective, constructive, and meaningful feedback.
- Lead and participate in department-wide transformation projects, actively contributing, communicating, and implementing changes, while supporting others throughout the process.
Education & Experience:
- 5 years of Market Risk Audit OR 2nd Line market risk experience - focus on equities or fixed income
- Have an understanding and knowledge of Market, Counterparty and/or Structural Risk, and a willingness for self-development across the stripes.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of banking products, financial services, and industry, including the different trading products and activities, and the related risks (market, counterparty credit, liquidity, operational, regulatory, etc.) and controls.
- Ability to use these skills to plan or execute audits using a risk-based approach (e.g., identify key risks, control points, and suggest approaches for testing/sampling)
- Understanding of relevant US regulatory expectations and rules including prudential rules such as Reg YY, SR 10-6, SR 11-10, SR 12-2, Market Risk Rule, or those from other regulators of comparable.
- Relevant Certifications (CIA, FRM, CFA, CTP)
