80 hours per pay period (Every two week). Wage range- $36-55/hr or $74,880-$114,400
Position Summary
The Quality/Safety Manager plans, directs and evaluates processes for organization-wide quality improvement to support the mission, vision, and values of MHS. To facilitate and/or coordinate the patient safety functions within the MHS. To serve as an internal consultant regarding standards, laws, and regulations, assuring and/or assisting in the assurance of compliance as applicable.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coordination and management of the organizational performance improvement and quality management program.
- Assist organization leaders in the development of a comprehensive quality improvement measurement system and facilitate data collection, aggregation, analysis and measurement of effectiveness.
- Assures compliance with quality standards, regulations, and laws for the organization.
- Evaluates and updates current quality focused policies, and develops new policies or procedures as needed.
- Acts as a coordinator for survey processes.
- Analyze patient customer satisfaction surveys and look for opportunities for improvement.
- Organize and keep records of Quality Assurance and QAPI meetings.
- Gathers and submits data for required healthcare facility reporting.
- Educates new staff at Organizational Orientation on Quality Initiatives.
- Provides ongoing organization-wide education and guidance on various standards, laws, and regulations.
- Serves as champion for patient safety and participates in risk identification, prevention, and reduction.
- Serves as an advocate for patient rights, patient-centered care, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Oversee the organizations patient safety program, including developing a written patient safety plan, which describes organization systems and processes designed to reduce or minimize risk to patients.
- Coordinate and manage development of agendas, reporting, and record keeping of the Safety Committee Meetings, which has oversight for patient safety.
- Assesses minimum protected health information only as necessary if it pertains to specific job function.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred, with an unencumbered MN license -OR-
- Applicant with a Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Experience in chart/case review, data analysis, interpretation, and evaluation
- Experience with interpreting CMS CoP standards, CAH regulations, and RHC regulations
- Experience with Quality measurement reporting agencies
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Effective interpersonal communication skills; both written and verbal
- Critical thinking skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Comprehensive approach with attention to detail
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and accurately complete tasks within established deadlines
- Competent in general computer skills and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Maintains a positive, open, and effective relationship with administration, medical staff, and all levels of personnel through open communication and efficient written and verbal skills
- Assumes responsibility and ability to exercise good judgment in decision making within the scope of authority of this position
- Ability to accept and implement change
