Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide engineering and production support to machining and secondary operations by developing and maintaining robust processes while striving to achieve lowest cost and highest quality production methods. Ensure that customer-specified quality levels are met or exceeded. Support launch of new products through APQP launch process as needed.
Essential Functions
- Launch new products while following Madison-Kipp (MKC) launch procedures.
- Quote estimates for new products.
- Responsible for all activity associated with assigned machining processes, including but not limited to:
- Justification and purchase of new equipment
- CNC programming
- Automation design implementation for machining cells
- Project management
- Perishable tooling design
- Production support
- Training hourly staff
- Process documentation
- PM recommendations
- Improve uptime and reduce scrap through Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Implement change requests as required to support customer requests or internal changes.
- Follow all MKC and IATF 16949:2016 procedures.
- Support launch teams in development of APQP documents, such as inspection sheets, process flow, PFMEA, and control plans.
- Ensure processes are stable and meet customer requirements in productivity and quality performance.
- Work with outside vendors to procure machinery or tooling as required.
- Maintain clean and safe working environment.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
- BS in manufacturing engineering or similar degree
- Three years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably machining preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- CAD-CAM experience (Auto-CAD, Solidworks/Spinfire, MasterCam).
- Excellent understanding of GD&T.
- Proficient in Tooling, Multi-Axis Machining, Turning and Machining Centers, Vertical and Horizontal CNC’s, Fixturing Design.
- Accurate at estimating cycle times for quoting purposes.
- Problem solving skills.
- Project management skills.
- Experience with high-volume machining and robotics.
