More than half are students of color. Almost half come from low income households. Nearly one third are English Language Learners, and more than 100 languages are represented in our schools. Purpose of Position: The purpose of this position is to develop, promote, maintain and supervise a variety of youth aquatics programs with additional responsibilities managing recreational sports programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise a number of part-time, seasonal employees that work in MSCR programs throughout the year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and supervising year-round aquatics programs and effectively supervising program staff. The following duties are normal for this position and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties will be required and assigned.

- Research, plan, develop and schedule youth aquatics programming with an emphasis on American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs.
- Plan and implement sports programs with an immediate focus on tennis instruction.
- Recruit, hire, schedule, supervise and evaluate lifeguards and instructors.
- Plan and lead staff training including staff in-services, lifeguard and CPR instruction.
- Conduct evening and weekend program visits to observe and evaluate staff and program delivery and effectiveness.
- Maintain knowledge of existing safety codes related to aquatic program operations and staff certifications. Make adjustments as needed.
- Research, purchase, organize, maintain and distribute equipment and supplies.
- Work with Marketing Specialist to prepare information for seasonal program guides and to promote programs and events.
- Assist with the development of program budgets and monitor expenditures and revenue.
- Collaborate with the outreach team to develop strategies to increase and maintain diversified enrollment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program personnel, with other MSCR staff, with MMSD staff, with the public and with community organizations.
- Work closely with the American Red Cross to maintain course records and personnel certifications.
- Track participation statistics, maintain records, develop and submit required reports.
- Monitor and approve employee payroll.
- Maintain AED's and CPR equipment for MSCR programs.
