Job Summary:
The Madison Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau (MMCVB) is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Social Media Specialist to promote Madison and Morgan County. This role focuses on creating high-quality content for Facebook and Instagram, meeting strategic marketing goals and managing community engagement. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, adaptable, has a passion for travel imagery and understanding of destination marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand the Visit Madison brand, brand standards, goals and audiences to create tailored messaging;
- Develop and execute a content calendar for Facebook and Instagram, ensuring all deadlines are met;
- Create engaging, high-resolution photography, posts, stories, Meta ads, and occasional reels (short-form video) that align with our brand and appeal to our target audiences;
- Coordinate and maintain an ongoing and comprehensive image library; Understand usage rights and procurement avenues for content;
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and interactions to foster community engagement;
- Track and report on social media performance metrics, providing quarterly insights reports and recommendations for growth; must meet strategic goals for follower growth, reach and engagement;
- Stay up-to-date on social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep content fresh and innovative.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing and creating content for Facebook and Instagram.
- Strong photography and basic photo editing skills.
- Experience creating Instagram reels or short-form video content is a plus.
- Excellent written communication skills with a knack for crafting engaging captions.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with social media analytics tools, Meta Ads Manager and performance tracking.
Work Environment:
This is a remote-friendly role, but candidates should be local or familiar with Madison/Morgan County to effectively capture its essence. Some local travel may be required to photograph locations and events. Consideration for hourly rate or ongoing monthly retainer (freelance) to be discussed based on experience and agreement.

MMCVB promotes tourism through marketing initiatives including brand awareness/advertisement, participation in regional and state destination marketing associations, role as Camera Ready Liaison for the film industry, operation of the Madison Morgan County Welcome Center and more.
