Madison Veterinary Specialists is a growing 24/7 comprehensive, state of the art emergency, specialty and critical care facility that partners with family veterinarians to provide compassionate care to companion animals.
MVS is looking to hire a first shift critical care and dialysis veterinary assistant. This is a great opportunity to get involved with Wisconsin’s first and only veterinary extracorporeal therapy (ECT) service! This individual must provide caring, compassionate and detail-oriented care for critical care and extracorporeal therapy inpatients and outpatients. This individual must have professional, empathetic communication and be a team player. They will work directly with the critical care specialists to facilitate recheck appointments, extracorporeal therapy patients and inpatients as the case load dictates. Additional responsibilities include stocking and maintaining the dialysis equipment.
Primary responsibilities:
• Patient Care – assist the inpatient CVT team as case load dictates, restraining patients during dialysis, obtaining initial vitals on outpatient appointment.
• Client Communication – obtaining history and client concerns from outpatient and recheck appointments, facilitate client visits as needed, next day client follow-up as needed.
• Record Keeping – creating and documenting medical records per MVS protocols and the dialysis database.
• Inventory – ensure dialysis cart, dialysis catheter kit are stocked and facilitate sterilization and processing of sterile catheter kit.
Secondary Surgery Inpatient Veterinary Assistant responsibilities:
• Machine Maintenance – along with the critical care specialist, facilitate dialysis and RO water machine maintenance processes are complete according to manufacturer recommendations.
• On-call – opportunity for on-call cases when ECT are needed outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Desired Experience:
- Greater than 1 years’ experience working in veterinary specialty and emergency as a veterinary assistant.
- Experience working with Infinity / Impromed software.

- Full time
- On-Call required
