Position Overview
Madison Wood Preservers, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate machinery used in the transportation and handling of lumber within our facility. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are committed to safety, efficiency, and teamwork. While experience is strongly preferred, we provide training to ensure proper equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment to transport lumber and load/unload trucks and trailers.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Safely handle, stack, and store materials to prevent damage.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and material staging.
- Work with team members to meet production goals.
- Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining efficiency.
- Participate in ongoing safety and equipment training.
Requirements
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Attention to detail and safety-minded.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week).
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to operate power tools as needed.
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
- Ability to navigate stairs and inclines.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. with and without assistance.
- Ability to work around loud noises for extended periods.
- Ability to perform manual labor in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of recent forklift or heavy equipment operation experience.
- Stable work history with a record of reliability and attendance.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team setting.
