Revenue Cycle-Payment Specialist-(FT)

The Payment Applications Specialist is responsible for reviewing and interpreting explanation of benefits (EOB’s) from insurance carriers and posting the related transactions to patient accounts. This position is essential to the process of settling claims and that patient statements are received in a timely manner to ensure we are compliant with patient billing legislation. Fulfilling this role involves having a broad understanding of billing and collection processes, insurance terminology, excellent attention to detail, and analytical skills.

• Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Required Skills:

1. Has fundamental understanding of basic math calculations and health insurance terminology.

2. Working knowledge of computer systems with strong keyboarding skills, and the ability to learn new programs.

3. Must be willing and able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in carrying out responsibilities.

4. Has strong organizational skills, excellent problem-solving capabilities, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

5. Must feel comfortable interacting professionally with patients, hospital employees and physicians.

Minimum Work Experience:

1. One year of experience in medical billing, admitting, or scheduling preferred.

Minimum Education:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
