Job Description
Summary/Objective:
The Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machine shop equipment and mold presses during the assembly process, under the supervision and guidance of the Production Supervisor.
The Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machine shop equipment and mold presses during the assembly process, under the supervision and guidance of the Production Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
Perform daily tasks as instructed and demonstrated by the Lead or Supervisor within the time allocated according to company standards. Carry out typical machine shop and mold press operations to support the assembly floor. Identify and report defective materials or any questionable conditions to the department supervisor. Perform prescribed preventive maintenance on machines as outlined in the P.M. charts. Be able to perform, but not limited to, tasks such as milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, molding, and other bench operations and inspections. Recognize and respond to machine malfunction warnings and alarm signals. Have a solid understanding of basic machine functions to perform the required tasks. Be open to receiving frequent supervision and assistance, particularly with machine setup. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations. Conduct all work-related activities ethically, consistently, and in a fair manner. Contribute to a productive, proactive, and effective team in a fast-paced environment. Follow all safety standards and company policies, including attending mandatory safety training. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Frequently required to use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, climb, and squat for prolonged periods. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. A positive attitude and good judgment are essential. Must be a team player and work effectively with others. Ability to understand and follow instructions and directions. Availability to work weekends and/or overtime as needed. Ability to concentrate and work effectively in a noisy environment. Ability to wear required protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, boots, respirators, etc. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of 1 year of factory-related experience.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing plant environment with significant temperature fluctuations. Dusty and noisy environment. Exposure to odors and fumes.
