What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Garden Center Associate position at Madras Garden Depot?
Madras Garden Depot is a well-established retail garden center at the north end of Madras. We're now accepting resumes for PT FT Retail Nursery Customer Service positions. Prior nursery experience IS a definite plus; compensation is dependent on experience. Our workweek can be up to 7 days a week, however our open 'public' hours are adjusted seasonally, but generally Tues. - Sat. 9-5
Our pollinator friendly garden center is known for a focus on unique, adaptive perennials, shrubs and trees that thrive in Central Oregon’s climate. The Madras Garden Depot is also known for our gorgeous annual plants including custom planters and hanging baskets, all grown without harmful pesticides. We also have a definite emphasis on customer service which means “going the extra mile” at the Garden Depot to help our customers keep their gardens on track.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service and ensure customer needs are being met by:
Assisting customers with selection, sales carry out; advising customers on plant care, watering fertilizing practices; have the ability to be able to identify their plant samples accurately, (or find someone who can!) Be able to source the correct info for customers if you don't know the answer; accurate cash handling phone answering skills.
- Ensure the retail yard and store is stocked with sufficient quantities of merchandise, and that areas are free of debris and litter. Rotate plants and shelf items as needed; assist with plant health tasks: watering, pruning/dead heading, pest control propagation. Assist in inventory, ordering, receiving and pricing merchandise. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Operate our front-end loader and complete all associated equipment training and reviews as necessary.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
