CEI Roadway Inspector
Location: Tampa area
The CEI Roadway Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of roadway construction projects across Florida. This position is responsible for performing on-site inspections and field tests, documenting construction progress, and enforcing adherence to FDOT specifications, plans, and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Inspect roadway construction activities including paving, earthwork, drainage, signage, and striping for compliance with FDOT standards and project specifications.

Document daily construction progress, field test results, material quantities, and contractor operations.

Perform or observe field and lab testing of materials such as asphalt, concrete, and soils.

Identify deviations from contract documents and recommend corrective actions to project teams.

Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and engineers to address field concerns and ensure resolution of issues.

Promote and enforce jobsite safety, reporting hazards and ensuring contractor compliance with safety standards.

Maintain detailed, timely inspection records and support the close-out process.

Assist CEI project managers with project tracking, scheduling, and reporting as needed.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred.

2 years of relevant field experience in roadway construction or inspection, preferably with FDOT projects.

CTQP certifications strongly preferred: Asphalt Roadway Level I/II, Earthwork Level I/II, Concrete Field Testing Technician, etc.

Working knowledge of FDOT specifications, standards, and procedures.

Strong documentation and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and inspection software.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities in a field-based setting.

Valid Florida driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
