ABOUT MADRIGAL: Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Summary Of Position
The Manager of FP&A will be a member of Madrigal’s Finance team and will be a hands-on contributor to the financial planning and analysis processes at Madrigal.
This highly visible role will provide strategic financial support focused on all G&A departments. The Manager of FP&A should have a strong financial acumen and progressive FP&A experience, inclusive of OpEx budgeting and forecasting, month-end close processes, and business partner collaboration. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent presentation skills and be comfortable leading meetings with department heads and members of the Executive Leadership Team.

Position Responsibilities
- FP&A Business Partnering: Act as FP&A partner to various G&A department members and leaders, providing relevant insights into planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and recommendations based on financial data.
- Month End Close & Expense Management: Lead month-end close process for G&A departments to determine accurate accrual, prepaid, and reclass entries. Ensure Purchase Orders are being opened by business partners in line with their budgets, proactively flagging any unbudgeted POs to business partners.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for G&A departments for all OpEx spend, inclusive of headcount forecasting, as well as capital expenditures.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including monthly actual-versus-budget/forecast reporting to share with business partners, quarterly LBE (Latest Best Estimate) reports to be included in presentations to ELT, and ad-hoc reporting to drive business decisions and financial considerations.
- Ad-Hoc Support: Support various ad hoc business requests, inclusive of financial modeling and/or analytics driven by business partner requests.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 3 years relevant finance experience required, 2 years in the pharma/biotech/life sciences industry preferred.
- Expert proficiency with Excel, strong PowerPoint skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a desire to collaborate with colleagues across different functions.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with all levels of management.
- Have a strong degree of self-motivation, ownership, and flexibility, and the ability to proactively plan and prioritize workload.
- Experience with financial systems including Coupa, Concur, ERP systems (Great Plains, SAP, Netsuit, etc.), and consolidation systems (Datarails, Hyperion, OneStream, etc.).
- Strong understanding of US GAAP Accounting
- Minimum requirement of 3 days in office each week.
- Occasional travel or team/company needs
