A dynamic and growing company in the construction sector is seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee and manage the financial health of our organization. This position is integral to our operations, requiring expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and strategic planning within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record of managing complex financial structures in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and support to the executive team.
- Monitor cash flow, forecast financial needs, and develop strategies for optimal capital utilization.
- Manage project-based accounting, including tracking of job costs, WIP (work-in-progress) reports, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial planning, cost control, and profitability.
- Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Develop and maintain financial models, performance metrics, and reports to guide decision-making.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional growth and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Work closely with other departments (Operations, Project Management, HR) to drive financial best practices and support business initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 7 years of experience in financial leadership roles, with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of construction accounting, including AIA billing, job costing, and WIP schedules.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software (construction-specific systems preferred).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage a team effectively.
- High degree of integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.
