What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machine Operator position at Magee Plastics Company?
Magee Plastics Company, a premier manufacturer of thermoplastics and composites for the aerospace, locomotive, and ground transportation industries, is currently hiring for a CNC Operator position. This position handles the computer numerical control machine. Maintaining, setting, and adjusting the machine are all part of the operator’s daily tasks. This includes knowledge of the software and hardware of the machine. The CNC operator processes materials and performs functions like drilling, cutting, and shaping plastic.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs de-burring, sanding, grinding operations necessary to meet specifications
- Cuts/trims plastic pieces as necessary using hand routers or a band saw
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and orthographic drawings.
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
