What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Magee Plastics Company?
Magee Plastics Company, a premier manufacturer of thermoplastics and composites for the aerospace, locomotive, and ground transportation industries, is currently hiring for a Quality Inspector. This position is responsible for the inspection of finished goods, incoming products, and/or material, and in-process production as applicable, or as assigned via MPC procedures and protocols:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs final inspection of work orders using the appropriate drawings, specifications, and customer requirements as dictated by MPC protocol.
- Performs incoming inspection on products or raw materials, and in-process production by using the appropriate drawings, specifications, and requirements when assigned/dictated by scheduling needs.
- Conducts First Article Inspections as assigned/dictated via MPC procedural protocol, and completes the associated documentation as required.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings to ensure verification/compliance of products or materials to said drawings.
- Inputs inspection results into the appropriate media, (i.e., database, reports, forms, hard copy, etc) for quality record retention, as well as customer/FAA reports.
- Performs necessary business system transactions to release approved parts in accordance with sales orders, and to receive parts/material into stock as required.
- Ensures the inspection/verification of tools and gauges are conducted .
- In relation to the MPC Repair Stations, ensures the incoming inspection of repair parts/kits and the associated reports are completed in a timely manner and are communicated as appropriate.
- Ensures the effective segregation and processing of nonconforming product , including control of areas identified as bonded.
- Provides training and guidance to inspectors in training.
- Research information or data as requested by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and flammability reports.
- Ability to interpret and apply FAA regulations, quality management system requirements, quality assurance standards, and customer-specific requirements regarding inspection processes.
- Strong mathematic and analytical skills.
- Ability to measure accurately using required measurement tools such as rulers, measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers, countersink gages, etc.
- Intermediate level computer skills.
- Well-developed attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills and ease of working either individually or in a team setting.
- Ability to proficiently use Microsoft office products, i.e., Word, Excel, etc.
- Ability to multi-task and apply efficient time management.
- Ability to take direction and remain flexible in day-to-day assignments.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.50 - $24.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
