What are the responsibilities and job description for the PhD in Criminal Justice - remote position at Magellan Learning Solutions?
Perhaps you started your career in law enforcement or corrections, then decided to move up and affect change at federal, state, or local level. Maybe research became your passion, looking for trends that could give law enforcement a leg up on the bad guys. Or possibly, sharing your experience and wisdom with the next generation of Criminal Justice professionals is your focus now. Whatever the reason you pursued your PhD in your field, we need you.
Magellan Learning Solutions seeks subject matter experts for current online course development projects for a graduate program, specifically PhDs in Criminal Justice with expertise in Cybersecurity, Cybercrime and Cyberterrorism, Criminal Justice Reform, Restorative Justice Practices, Community Engagement and Cross-Cultural Competency.. The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the academic authority in an academic course design project. Because these are graduate-level courses, a PhD is required.
The SME will produce content for online courses and work closely with a Magellan instructional designer. They will meet weekly with the designer over a period of time and produce weekly deliverables to meet the project deadline. They will engage in an ongoing process of editing and revision, incorporating guidance from the instructional designer. Professionalism, collaboration, and responsiveness to feedback are a must.
SMEs are expected to produce original course material and adhere to guidelines and expectations set by the client institution and Magellan Learning Solutions. Their finished product will reflect industry best practices, including relevant, research-based, and current content and materials, authentic assessment measures, and meaningful student engagement.
Successful SMEs are self-motivated, diligent, deadline-driven, and passionate about student learning.
Qualifications: SMEs designing courses for the bachelor’s level must typically possess a master’s degree with 18 credits in the field; SMEs at the graduate level must have a terminal degree in the discipline.
The compensation for SMEs varies by client, discipline, degree level, and course level. Often SMEs have the opportunity to teach the course they develop for the client institution.
