What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chess Teacher position at Magen David Yeshivah?
We are looking for a full time Chess Teacher at our Early Childhood Department at Magen David Yeshivah. The school year is consistent with the Jewish calendar and closed during the summer.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement age-appropriate chess lessons that introduce basic concepts, rules, and strategies.
Utilize interactive and engaging teaching methods to make chess fun and accessible for young learners.
Adapt lesson plans based on the individual needs and learning styles of the children.
Use visual aids, games, and activities to reinforce learning.
Instruction & Guidance:
Provide clear and concise instructions on chess moves, rules, and strategies.
Offer positive and constructive feedback to students, encouraging their participation and progress.
Create a positive and supportive learning environment where children feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
Manage student behavior effectively and fairly.
Ensure that all students are actively engaged and participating in lessons.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about their child's progress and participation in chess lessons.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate chess into the overall preschool curriculum.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Assessment:
Assess students' understanding of chess concepts and skills through observation and informal assessments.
Provide feedback to students and parents/guardians on their progress.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working with young children is preferred.
Strong knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and tactics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching.
Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans.
Comfortable working with young children in a classroom setting.
