What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Relations Specialist position at Magic Valley Electric Cooperative?
I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides support to the Human Resources Officer and assists with human resources matters by gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for policy development, investigations, and compliance.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Human Resources Officer
B. Supervises: None
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Handles routine human resource inquiries related to policies and procedures and refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
B. Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
C. Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
D. Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, labor relations, and human resources to ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local employment laws; assures proper postings of notices and updates policies and HR forms as necessary.
E. Maintains and updates employee policy manual and is knowledgeable of policy content.
F. Ensures that human resource files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and cooperative policies and procedures.
G. Maintains, manages, and coordinates the Cooperative’s performance evaluation software and performance review cycles.
H. Maintains the HR Portal document site and HR Department Intranet site including HR Wiki area and posts announcements as required to ensure compliance.
I. Performs miscellaneous clerical functions and special projects as assigned and researches and analyzes data for special projects and policy development, etc.
J. Observes and follows all safety rules and policies.

C. General Public: Maintains good relations in all contacts with the general public.
