What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician II position at Magic Valley Electric Cooperative?
I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing & maintaining system studies including sectionalizing, voltage, load flow and planning studies. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate records necessary to facilitate the system studies.
I. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Planning Engineer
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Responsible for developing and maintaining sectionalizing, voltage, load flow and planning studies for the Cooperative and providing recommendations based on studies.
B. Responsible for developing and maintaining computer programs, processes and device settings of the Cooperatives substation and distribution control equipment
C. Responsible for distributing information based on system studies to the Cooperative.
D. Responsible for gathering information needed for system studies from Cooperative departments and other resources.
E. Regularly inspects distribution circuits and special equipment in the field. Maintains accurate records of circuits and special equipment.
F. Responsible for testing and proper operation of special equipment.
G. Maintains inventory of distribution special equipment and parts as needed.
H. Responsible for developing and maintaining necessary records such as historical load databases.
I. Responsible for developing and maintaining necessary computer circuit models such as WindMill and LightTable.
J. Responsible for computer model switching simulations and recommendations.
K. Responsible for training Cooperative personnel on new and existing special equipment.
L. Assists the Planning Engineer with addressing power quality issues.
M. Assists the Planning Engineer in the planning, development and review of Cooperative system improvements and engineering standards
N. Participates in formal training programs for the improvement of job knowledge and technical skills when made available.
O. Observes all applicable safety rules and regulations.
P. Assists in the review of plans and specifications submitted by Consultants.

IV. EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. Member-Consumers: Personnel assigned to this classification shall respond to member inquiries and resolves problems or direct them to the supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
B. General Public: Personnel should maintain good relations in all contacts with the public and contractors.
