What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loss Control Specialist position at Magic Valley Electric Cooperative?
I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring the safety program, conducting safety inspections, aiding in accident investigations and gathering pertinent information from all available sources to further enhance MVEC’s safety and loss control programs.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Loss Control Manager
B. Provides work direction to all employees by promoting and documenting impacts of safety standards, rules, and procedures.
II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Promotes and monitors the loss control programs of Magic Valley Electric Cooperative by regularly visiting construction crews on the job site, during tailboard meetings or at any other time to ensure that the objectives of the program are achieved.
B. Delivers, promotes and seeks feedback from personnel regarding the procedures to properly use tools and work equipment by construction crews, shop and warehouse and regarding the cooperative’s loss prevention programs by interviewing or surveying line and/or construction crews at the job site or during regular scheduled meetings.
C. Aids in the investigation of all electrical and other accidents by gathering information, preparing reports and written documentation.
D. Gathers all information regarding environmental related accidents and coordinates all record keeping. Ensures that environmental monitoring programs are kept updated and makes recommendations to the programs based on observations or feedback.
E. Prepares articles, memorandums, manuals, reports, etc. that provide safety information and delivers them during visits, interviews or regularly scheduled safety meetings.
F. Aids in the implementation and monitoring of OSHA, ANSI, NESC, FMCSR and other regulations as they relate to the loss control program at Magic Valley Electric Cooperative. Will be responsible for the research and purchase of arc rated uniforms that meet current standards.
G. Aids in the implementation and monitoring of the MVEC apprenticeship program.
